The walkathon will take place on 22 October this year. Each year organisers try their utmost to make the race enjoyable for participants while also ensuring that the walkathon’s temporary road restrictions cause as little disruption as possible.

To minimise congestion on affected roads, organisers limit the number of walkers to 35 000. They have also met with the Metro police to make sure stricter parking regulations are enforced and followed.

On the day, residents will be allowed access in and out of the area, however, access will be restricted while walkers and runners are on the road.

The walkathon will take place at Marks Park in Emmarentia. It starts at 8am and walkers will be released in waves of 30-minute intervals.
