[ONLINE EXCLUSIVE] WATCH: Woman survives tug-of-war with armed robbers

AUCKLAND PARK – 'This is proof that social media does sometimes work' – Suburban Crime Prevention.

A female student who won a tug-of-war against two armed robbers managed to escape the incident unharmed while her robbers were later apprehended by police.

According to Jeanette Backhoff, spokesperson for the Brixton Police, the incident took place on 11 September in Goring Avenue.

After a call was put on social media by Suburban Crime Prevention to be on the lookout for the car, a rare sight on the road with two unique silver stripes on the bonnet, the robbers were apprehended and arrested.

According to Jeanette Backhoff, spokesperson for the Brixton Police, three suspects were arrested and are facing charges of armed robbery and assault. She said they used an air gun during the robbery which was confiscated along with the black MG 6 they were driving.
