Nel, a Rainbow Line Dancers instructor, said the competition was an amazing experience in the most beautiful ballroom in the world. He added that the ceiling which was three storeys high looked beautiful with hanging chandeliers and the dance floor was the size of half a rugby field.

“The excellent dancers from around the world all contributed to [making] this a wonderful experience for the line dancers,” said Nel. “Everybody did very well and worked hard to be the best they could be. The Australians were excellent – well polished in their execution of their dances. Luzelle did exceptionally well and worked extremely hard before we left South Africa.”

The next South African competition is at the end of November at the Free State regional championships, where dancers will qualify for the South African Master’s competition in May next year.

The Gauteng regional competition is at the end of February in Blairgowrie. “I’m extremely proud and excited to see our hard work being awarded such excellent results.”
