Long-term fitness members awarded in Northcliff

NORTHCLIFF – Would you joing a gym for 60 years?

Some take up sports only for a season but at The Fitness League, members stick around for 60 years.

This year marks the league’s 60th anniversary and to celebrate, they awarded long-time members.

They also held a cabaret show at the Roosevelt Recreation Centre and performers Dave Abbott and Vanessa Palm entertained members, their families and friends.

Later certificates were handed out to long-term members.

Marguerite Swan, regional head teacher for Gauteng of the Fitness League in South Africa with Mary Lippnicki who receives an award.

Deirdre Larkin (85) of the Randburg Harriers Running Club started running at the ripe old age of 78. She has been a Fitness League member for a decade.

Mary Lipnicki who has been a member for 60 years, and is also a founding member of league, also received a certificate.
