A Westdene family fell victim to a home invasion and robbers made away with goods, as well as their car.

The incident took place on the evening of 24 July on Stafford Street.

According to Warrant Officer TJ de Bruyn, spokesperson for the Sophiatown Police Station, a robber entered the home and targeted one of the family members who was alone in a room in the home.

Later more robbers entered the home and rounded up all the family members and took them into the lounge. According to unconfirmed reports, the family, including two girls aged seven and eight, were tied up by the men who were wearing balaclavas.

The robbers took the family’s white Opel Corsa and fled the scene. “No arrests have been made and a case of house robbery was opened,” De Bruyn said.
