Don’t get caught in traffic in Johannesburg this Walk the Talk

JOBURG – Miss traffic this Walk the Talk.

It’s time for the MTN Walk the Talk with 702 and here is everything you need to know about the race’s road closures.

The event will take place on 23 July and the start and finish line will be at Marks Park Sports Club on Judith Road in Emmarentia.

Distances to be walked include 5km, 8km and 15km and due to the volume of walkers, certain roads in the area will be closed.

5km and 8km walk closures are as follows:

  • 4am to 2pm – Judith Road from Beyers Naudé Drive to Barry Hertzog Avenue
  • 4am to 1pm – Niger Road from Judith to Sabie roads
  • 4am to 1pm – Sabie Road from Hill Road to Barry Hertzog Avenue
  • 4am to 1pm – Rustenburg Road from Sabie to Carlow roads
  • 6.30am to 1.30pm – Carlow Road from Rustenburg to Mayo roads
  • 8.30am to 1pm – Emmarentia Road from Carlow to Gleneagles roads
  • 8.30am to 1pm – Gleneagles Road from Donegal to Haven roads
  • 8.30am to 1pm – Geers Avenue from Gleneagles to Haven roads
  • 8.30am to 1pm – Haven Road from Geers Avenue to Hoylake Road
  • 8.30am to 1pm – Hoylake Road from Haven to Clovelly roads
  • 8.30am to 1pm – Clovelly Road from Hoylake to Troon roads
  • 8.30am to 1pm – Wicklow Avenue from Emmarentia to Troon roads
  • 8.30am to 1pm – Illovo Road from Hill to Orange roads
  • 4am to 1pm – Orange Road from Troon to Gambia roads
  • 4am to 1pm – Greenhill Road from Barry Hertzog Avenue to Orange Road.

15km walk closures are as follows:

  • 4am to 1pm – Rustenburg Road from Sabie Road to 8th Avenue
  • 7am to 1pm – Barry Hertzog Avenue from Empire to Victory roads
  • 7am to 1pm – Wits 1st year parking gate from Empire Road to Station Street
  •  7.15am to 10.15am – Bertha Street from Jorissen Street to the Nelson Mandela Bridge
  • 7.15am to 10.30am – Carr Street from the Nelson Mandela Bridge to Queen Elizabeth Street
  • 7.15am to 10.30am – Queen Elizabeth Street from Carr to Jorissen streets
  • 7.30am to 10.30am – Jorrisen from Station to Rissik streets
  • 7.30am to 11am – Joubert Street from De Korte Street to Empire Road
  • 8am to 11.30am – Oxford Road from Empire Road to Victoria Avenue
  • 8am to 12pm – Rockridge Road from Jubilee to Winchester roads
  • 8am tp 12.15pm – Winchester Road from Rockridge to Sherbourne roads
  • 8am to 12.15pm – Sherbourne Road from Winchester Road to Loch Avenue
  • 8am to 12.15pm – Loch Avenue from Jan Smuts Avenue to Westcliff Drive
  • 8am to 12.15pm – Westcliff Drive from Loch Avenue to The Valley Road
  • 8.15am to 12.15pm – Lawrence Road from the Valley to Hillcrest roads
  • 4am to 12.45pm – Umgeni Road from Barry Hertzog Avenue to Orange Road
  • 4am to 12.45pm – Orange Road from Judith to Hill roads.

Greenside access and exit points from 8am to 10.45am are as follows:

  • Access/exit point – Greenhill Road and Barry Hertzog Avenue (southbound only)
  • Access/exit point – Mowbray Road and Barry Hertzog Avenue (southbound only)
  • Access/exit point – Gulane Road and Barry Hertzog Avenue (southbound only)
  • Access/exit point – Greenhill Road and Barry Hertzog Avenue (southbound only)
  • Access/exit point – Mowbray Road and Barry Hertzog Avenue (southbound only)
  • Access/exit point – Gulane Road and Barry Hertzog Avenue (southbound only).

Emmarentia access and exit points from 4am to 1pm are as follows:

  • Access/exit point – Greenhill Road and Barry Hertzog Avenue
  • Access/exit point – Infelele Road and Barry Hertzog Avenue (northbound only)
  • Exit point only – Orange and Judith roads toward Beyers Naude Drive.

Parktown exit points:

Jan Smuts Avenue, St Andrews and Empire roads.

Alternate routes:

Oxford Road (North and South)

Bolton Road (East and South)

Smit Street (East and South).
