A one-stop medical shop is the new kid on the block in Blairgowrie.
Premier Health Centre has been in operation since the beginning of the year and had their official meet and greet on 22 June at the centre in Mackey Avenue.
According to health professionals renting space at the centre, the meet and greet was intentionally delayed until most of the practitioner spaces available had been filled.
Dr Renette Naudé, an on-site chiropractor said the building was previously vacant and was quickly whipped into shape by developers.
The centre seeks to bring specialists together to provide services to the community within the community. Blairgowrie residents will no longer have to drive long distances to have a consultation with a specialist.
While the centre is not as big as a hospital, it has the look and feel of one. Renting in the space are specialists from each medical and beauty profession. Naudé said it was a one-stop-shop and patients could drop in for anything from getting a cold treated to getting their nails done. The centre has general practitioners, one of whom focuses on pediatrics, a physiotherapist, an optometrist and occupational therapist among others.
Plans to open a pharmacy are on the cards as well and many at the event who were from the community stated how necessary a night pharmacy would be for those who worked late and have children.
The Blairgowrie Community Association’s top brass represented the community and had a look at what the centre had to offer the area’s residents.
The centre received a nod of approval from Jed Kemery, chairperson of the association, who said the community had been waiting for a medical centre such as this.
