Litty Streets to light up the streets of Jozi

SANDTON – High school DJ's are set to light up Sandton on 1 June, at the Litty Street DJ party being hosted at the Sandton Sands in association with Sandton Chronicle.

The Northcliff Melville Times recently met up with two bright young muso entrepreneurs who are planning to revolutionise the under 18 party scene in Johannesburg with their all out DJ assault at the Sands in Sandton on 1 July called Litty Streets.

Aaron Ngwenya and Khosi Sibanda have been spinning decks since the tender age of 15, and as their love for the art grew, the parties also started getting bigger and better.

“We have been mixing since grade 9, and have grown to love it. We want to take our knowledge and skills and help other young DJ’s get some stage time” said Ngwenya.

The electronic dance music scene has always been popular in South Africa but has proven prohibitive for younger DJ’s, who struggle to find shows and promote themselves to wider audiences. This is where Ngwenya and Sibanda come in.

” We are fully committed to helping young musicians out there and on the stage,” says Sibanda. ” Litty Street is a party that celebrates young people of all races from across Johannesburg coming together support the youngest and freshest DJ’s this city has to offer. We want to showcase the amazing talent you can find at high school level.”

This will be the second major DJ event hosted by Litty Events, and there is estimated to be over one thousand young people making their way to this year’s party, making it one of the biggest under 18 club events in the country. “We had close to a thousand people at the first event, and we’re hoping that the next one will be even bigger!” concluded Sibanda.
