Petrol price drops by 25 cent per litre much to the relief of motorists

JOBURG – The strength of the rand against the US dollar is one of the main reasons why the price of petrol is set to drop.

The price of petrol for both 95 and 93 grades will drop by 25c per litre on the evening of 7 June, providing relief for motorists.
The price of both grades of diesel will also drop by 23c per litre while the wholesale price of illuminating paraffin will drop by 22c per litre.
The Department of Energy indicated that the main reason for the fuel price reduction this month was the strengthening of the rand against the US dollar. The average decrease in the prices of petroleum products in the international markets in line with the lower crude oil prices is also the contributing factor.
