The annual fireside tales evening at Auckland Park Preparatory School warmed up the cold winter night.
The school united the community through this unique event which celebrates many cultures through beautiful outfits and emotive songs. The night was made even grander as those in attendance danced to the many rhythms of these cultures.
The school’s isiZulu teacher, Mama Ndaba and other teachers told stories while the schoolgirls and their parents listened attentively.
The food for the evening was delicious with an assortment of traditional foods for all to enjoy. From halal to vegetarian, everyone’s tastes were catered for as they all shared food in true African fashion.

For the evening, the Grade 5 class made exquisite outfits with beautiful coloured material, designed by each girl. The Grade 6 class dressed as Sotho men and performed a vibrant gumboot dance. The Grade 7 class also took part in the stellar event and put on an astounding show that included a Zulu song and poem.
