A title for the taking

NORTHCLIFF – Zeenath Desai is overjoyed to be one of the 100 semi-finalists for the 2017 Mrs South Africa Pageant.

Zeenath Desai defines herself with three words – dynamic, bold and fearless – three fitting characteristics that aided in her being one of the100 semi-finalists selected for the 2017 Mrs South Africa pageant.

The wife and mother of two will now compete in the semi-final weekend, which will take place at Emperors Palace from 26 to 28 April.

There the contestants will go through rigorous judging by a panel of judges, one of them being former Mrs World 2016 Candice Abrahams.

The panel will then choose the 25 women who will go on to compete in the finals in October.

Desai explained that her journey to Mrs South Africa was all due to the faith her friends and family had in her.

She said that about two months ago, a colleague told her the surprising news that she had entered her into the competition.

“My friends would always say that I should enter the pageant, but I was just happy being bold in my little bubble.”

The Northcliff resident is also an ambassador for She’s Royalty, an NGO that helps young girls become queens and show them their value.

She added that her mission with young girls is to inspire them to fulfil their heart’s desires, encouraging them to go and find what they seek.

“If you believe you want to be a doctor, go out there and achieve it because you can do it, no matter what.”

Desai said if you are fearless you can achieve anything.

Doting soccer mom, fencer and horse rider, Desai embraces all of her dynamic facets which she hopes will lead her straight to the finals.

“Should I go to the finals it would mean so much to me. It would show that people’s belief in me had got me this far and, hopefully, show people to never give [up and] to always follow their journey.”
