De La Salle celebrates World Book Day

VICTORY PARK – De La Salle Holy Cross Junior College gets imaginative on World Book Day.

VICTORY PARK – De La Salle Holy Cross College Junior School recently celebrated World Book Day by encouraging the schoolchildren to come to school dressed as their favourite literary character.

Lots of fun was had by everyone as they came dressed in outfits that were extremely imaginative and creative.

The children watched a magical presentation by the Hooked on Books team, who dramatised book excerpts from contemporary children’s books.

The schoolchildren participated in the show with great enthusiasm.

“This is a wonderful learning experience for our pupils, and we hope to continue to instill the gift of a love of reading in them all,” said Mary Hyam, headmistress of the junior school.

“It was inspiring to see so many children dressed as their favourite book characters as it reflected the strong culture of reading that we promote in the junior school”.

As the Hooked on Books team told the schoolchildren, “If you think reading is boring, you’re doing it wrong!”
