City sends incorrect pre-termination notices

JOBURG – The City has apologised for issuing pre-termination notices incorrectly.

JOHANNESBURG – A few customers were incorrectly issued with pre-termination notices on 3 March due to a system glitch and the City would like to apologise for this mishap and urged those affected to ignore the notices.

Spokesperson for the City, Kgamanyane Maphologela said customers who have received incorrect pre-termination notices after they paid their accounts on time, could ignore the notice and said that all charges relating to the issuing of the notices would be reversed.

Maphologela, however, added that the City encourages customers to always pay their accounts on time, on the due date, and in full.

“Customers should immediately make payment arrangements if they are unable to pay to avoid attracting credit control actions against them,” Maphologela said.

If residents pay through a third party on the due date, it will only reflect on the City’s system three days later, meaning credit control processes would start in the interim.
