MUST READ: Smoke detectors set off at Wits Medical School

BRAAMFONTEIN – Wits Medical School students and staff were evacuated after smoke was detected on some floors.

Dean for the Faculty of Health Sciences, Professor Martin Veller confirmed this saying, “The source of the smoke is still being investigated.” He added that there was currently no report of a fire.

The Wits emergency response team and the firefighters were at the scene and the building has been evacuated. No one had been injured or hurt. “Staff and students have been sent home.” The school is still investigating the source of the smoke.
