AUCKLAND PARK – Suspects fired several shots during a robbery at a jewellery store on Campus Square at about 10 am on 24 February.

Communications officer for Brixton Police Station, Jeanette Backhoff said although there was a total of seven suspects, only three went into the shop.

“Seven [empty casings] were found in the shop, as they used a firearm to break the [display] cases where the jewellery was kept.”

She added that, at this stage, the value of the stolen jewellery is unknown.

Backhoff explained that the suspects had parked their getaway car, a white golf, in front of the square’s Wimpy. No one was injured.
