Little ones master their cooking skills

FAIRLAND – Schoolchildren participate in the annual master chef event at their preschool and baked their hearts out.

FAIRLAND – Cubby House Preschool hosted their annual master chef event, where children received the opportunity to take part in an exciting culinary experience with the help of their teachers.

The event took place on 17 February and is an activity which schoolchildren enjoy every Friday.

Owner of the preschool and teacher, Sharon Konstantinou said the master chef event gives schoolchildren the opportunity to learn how to bake and teaches them different skills based on the theme of the day.

The theme of this week’s activity was Valentine’s Day. At the end of the activity, the children were able to purchase what they made and take it home.

“Each learner gets a chance to be a chef every Friday and we have different themes such as colours, shapes and my family. Through the activity, the learners are taught how to count, measure and how to pay for something,” said Konstantinou.

Nkazi Nare is the master chef of the day at Cubby House Preschool.

“It also gives the child an opportunity to be the focus and boost their self-confidence by being the head chef. Next week’s theme will be sound and we will make biscuits with popping candy.”

Schoolchildren eagerly waited in line to purchase a heart-shaped piece of cake from the chef of the day.

Konstantinou added that they enjoyed the baking process.
