Animals sterilised through an outreach programme

WESTBURY – The Animal Anti-Cruelty League sterilised animals from the community as part of their outreach programme.

WESTBURY – Continuing its outreach programme, the Animal Anti-Cruelty League sterilised 13 animals from the local community.

The league’s general manager, Cindy Price said despite being short staffed, the league managed to get through the programme with the help of five volunteers and veterinarians.

“The second phase of this undertaking took place on 26 January when 10 more animals which had been identified for sterilisation were collected from Westbury. Again, the results were pleasing and animals were safely returned to their owners after surgery.

“We also want to thank the sponsors, FNB Pet Drive and Cause4Paws for covering the sterilisation costs and Zoetis SA for donating the vaccines for the outreach,” said Price.

She added that she was excited about the growth and development of the outreach programme over the past three years, which has been extended to various communities around Johannesburg. There will be a new outreach programme scheduled for 26 February in Sophiatown.

“It is important to note that sponsorship forms a vital component of the league’s outreach and could be a limiting factor to expansion. I appeal to companies and pet lovers generally to help keep the programme sustainable and would welcome inquiries on how one could assist.”

Price thanked the community of Westbury for wholeheartedly embracing their pet care responsibility programme.

“Sterilisation of this community’s pets will continue until all identified animals have been attended to.”
