St.Niklas pops by DSJ

AUCKLAND PARK – Deutsche Internationale Schule, Regenbogen Kids get a special visit from St Niklas, who spent the day with them and gave them special gifts.

Deutsche Internationale Schule schoolchildren were surprised by a visitor who came all the way from the North Pole to see them.

Children of Regenbogen Kids, the schule’s kindergarten, were visited by St Niklas. The annual visit had all the children beguiled and enthused to see this great gift-giver known around the world as either Father Christmas or Santa Claus.

The children were visited by St Niklas on 6 December, which is also a celebrated feast day in some parts of the world and marks the day he died.

On the day, the schoolchildren gathered in the hall and anticipated something grand.

Principal of Regenbogen Kids, Brigitte Helmrich, said the children all sat quietly in the hall when all of a sudden a bell rang in the distance and was coming towards them which caught their attention. Then through the doors came St Niklas, carrying a huge heavy sack filled with little surprises for the children.

Their excitement encapsulated the entire hall as they were all blown away to see him. Helmrich said all the children showed their appreciation for the visit by singing Christmas carols and by reciting poems.

The unfortunate time came when St Niklas had to say goodbye and spread the Christmas joy to other children.

He waved and rang his bell as he made his way out while all the children sang as he left.
