In the December 2016/January 2017 edition of Get It Magazine – Joburg Northern Suburbs, an interview with the Illovo designer Yasmin Furmie was published, titled “Street Style”. One of the questions put to Ms Furmie was “where are we most likely to bump into you?”. In response the interviewer attributed the following words to Ms Furmie: “… or the Clico Boutique Hotel sipping champagne at golden hour with my wonderful husband”. These words were never spoken by Ms Furmie and were falsely attributed to her by the interviewer, who apparently thought them to be harmless. Ms Furmie and her husband are devout Muslims and took great offence at the statement. Get It Magazine unconditionally retracts the above statement and apologises to Ms Furmie and her husband for any embarrassment caused. Caxton, the publisher of Get It magazine, will take appropriate steps against the interviewer concerned
