WARNING: Criminals order food to rob you
FERNDALE – Police warn residents to refrain from responding to delivery people when they do not order any food.
It has surfaced that criminals were calling food stores to place orders for delivery and then provide the address of residents of whom they plan to rob in the Randburg police precinct.
Watch out for driveway robbery
Criminals then wait for the delivery man to arrive at the address given and ambush both the delivery person and the resident at the driveway. Celeste Naude wrote on the I love Randburg Facebook page that both a resident and a delivery man were held at gunpoint on Monday evening by criminals on Pine Avenue in Ferndale.
Know what to do during a driveway robbery
Randburg police spokesperson, Captain Makgowanyana Maja confirmed the incident was reported but could not establish when it happened. He warned that residents should not respond while they are aware that they did not order any food.
“Residents should call the police, we will then go and assist them,” he said.
