Passion for the arts

LINDEN – Local actor is dedicated to building his career in an industry he thrives in.

Multi-talented actor Bradley Theron realised his passion for the arts from a young age and keeps persevering to make his mark in the industry.

Exploring different forms of performances has led him to pursue a number of projects.

Theron, who is a Linden resident, said he started acting when he was seven years old after his parents encouraged him to do so after noticing his enthusiasm and extroverted personality. Originally from Port Elizabeth, he studied at Tshwane University of Technology and graduated with a BA degree in Musical Theatre in 2014.

“I decided to move to Johannesburg because there are more opportunities in the arts industry. I’m also a singer, tap dancer, director, drummer, guitarist and most recently, a photographer. I’ve also acted in dance productions such as Renaissance and Chronicles,” said Theron.

He added that he had acted in productions such as Highschool Musical in 2010, Legally Blonde in 2013 and represented South Africa in Germany at the International Dance Organisation world show dance championships in 2012. More recently he was part of the Ruby and the Power Pals Roadshow this year. The talented actor currently stars in the Broadway show, Seussical the Musical Jr at the People’s Theatre until 24 December.

“Seussical the Musical Jr is based on Dr Seuss books and mainly focused on the people of Whoville. I play Mr Mayor, a clumsy mayor who struggles to understand his child with an imaginative mind. He is an interesting character and I enjoy playing him.

“The production is a great way to teach young minds and one of the songs we perform is called Anything is Possible which is an inspiring song. It’s a colourful production with different and interesting characters.”

Besides the many hats he wears, the multi-talented actor loves mountain biking, surfing when he gets the opportunity, and cooking.

“My life revolves around my craft and career and I wouldn’t have it any other way,” concluded Theron.
