The Welridge and the RiverWel Resident’s Association will jointly host a domestic watch meeting on 16 November at the Greenbelt off the Rooihout Street Bridge from 4pm to 5pm.
It is very important for residents of this area to encourage their domestic workers to attend as domestic workers are at your home when your not there and therefore play a very important role in ensuring the safety of your home.
In a recent domestic watch meeting held by Panorama RA chairperson, Jon Rosenberg, it came out that many domestic workers aren’t even sure of their employers contact details or the address of where they work. It is important for them to learn how to keep themselves safe while at their workplace.
Rosenberg also mentioned that in a previous meeting domestic workers claimed to have been locked in the bathroom by intruders, subsequently requesting a panic button be fitted in the bathroom.
