The visibly distraught wife of a young shopkeeper who was shot in his head in High Street battled to hold back her tears while her brother-in-law spoke about the murder that shocked the community.
Her husband, XueWei Chen (27) was murdered during an armed robbery at his shop, the Mini Supermarket in High Street, Brixton, at about 6pm on Friday 21 October.

“We have only been married for five years,” said a heartbroken Ming He Chen.
She was overcome with grief and couldn’t continue talking.
Her brother-in-law, Youhuang Chen, spoke about their fear after the murder. He said they are not opening the shop to the public anymore because they are so afraid. “We keep ourselves locked inside because South Africa is no longer a safe place,” said Chen.
Eyewitness Kenny Wittes, who works in a shop near the place where XUeWei Chen died after he was shot, spoke about the murder.
“I heard the gunshot at about 6pm and ran outside to see what was happening. I saw four men running. Minutes later the police arrived and started chasing the fleeing men.
It is the first time since I have been here that someone was shot and killed. All of us used to buy at his shop every single day. We are so upset and shocked.

Brixton Police spokesperson, Jeannette Backhoff said the suspects were still at large.
