BRIXTON – Police warn shop owners to use extra safety measures after murder and robbery at supermarket in Brixton

Brixton Police Station has requested shop owners to put extra safety measures in place after a Chinese owner of a supermarket on High Street was shot and killed.

On 21 October at 7.15pm the owner was approached by four men whose intent it was to rob the business.

“An argument occurred between the shop owner and the suspects and one of the suspects took out a firearm and shot him twice in the upper body,” said Brixton Police spokesperson, Jeanette Backhoff.

Backhoff explained that the victim was taken to hospital by ambulance but later passed away due to the serious nature of injuries.

She added that the suspects got away with an unknown amount of money, and fled the scene in a red VW Golf.

The police have opened a case of business robbery and murder.

At this stage no arrests have been made and but all possible leads are being followed up.
