Dresses and the whole shebang for matric girls

WESTBURY– Pupils from Westbury High School were the fortunate group who were selected to receive a cinderella make-over.

The Cinderella Campaign is an organisation that was established last year with the aim of empowering and making the dreams of young girls come true for their matric dances.

Founder Kelly Adams said she was inspired to uplift girls in communities who cannot afford the cost of attending their matric dances. The girls write a motivational letter to the organisation explaining why they should receive a ‘cinderella makeover’.

“We selected girls from Westbury High School because of the high demand and there were a number of people who contacted us to help them. We gave cinderella makeovers to nine girls who got the full package in preparation for their matric dance on 6 October. We had a number of sponsors on board who made the campaign a success by providing the girls with professional make-up, hair, nails, dresses, accessories, shoes and also luxury cars.”

Adams added that she approached different sponsors like celebrity designer Casper Bosman, Miss Boss Couture and celebrity make-up artist, Ellenor Ndlovu. Adams also owns her own salon and styled the girls’ hair.

“Casper who styles Miss SA contestants, sponsored dresses returned by celebrities who previously wore them and gave them to the girls for the night. At my salon, we set up a red carpet and photo shoot for the girls, who were in tears, overwhelmed and thankful. I’m glad the day was a success with the help of everyone who offered their help.”

She plans to expand her organisation and has exciting projects planned for next year.
