Meet your new spokesperson

HONEYDEW – The community welcomes the new Honeydews SAPS spokesperson.

Captain Balan Muthan has been appointed the new Honeydew Police Station spokesperson.

Muthan officially took over the reins from former spokesperson, Warrant Officer Karen Jacobs, on 1 September. Muthan moved from his original post at the Douglasdale Police Station and has dedicated almost 28 years to the force.

“I am happy about my placement here at Honeydew communications,” said Muthan. He discussed that crime in the area is unstable with increases in house burglaries, theft out of motor vehicles and theft of motor vehicles.

“Policing is not just a point of call for the police but a function that must be aided by the community.” He urged residents to be vigilant in the area because Honeydew is an area where crime can be reduced.

He went on to commend the former station spokesperson, Jacobs. “Warrant Officer Jacobs, my friend and colleague who has been steering the communication ship, will still continue to be a valuable resource to the station.

“We have always had an excellent working relationship and we really appreciate all the hard work that she has done in the Honeydew precinct.”
