Paper recycling shop goes up in flames

ALBERTSKROON – Luckily no one was injured when a truck and paper recycling shop caught fire.

A paper recycling shop and a truck caught fire in Albertskroon at about 1.30am on 4 September. Luckily, no one was injured during the incident, which took place on the corner of 4th and 10th streets.

City of Johannesburg Emergency Management Services (EMS) spokesperson, Robert Mulaudzi said they are not sure of the origin of the fire, but they suspect it started at the garage where the truck was parked.

He said when the fire brigade arrived the fire had already destroyed most of the premises and the truck. “No one was on the premises, and there seems to be no injuries,” he said.

Mulaudzi concluded that an investigation is underway to determine the cause of the fire.
