Tiffany masters all roles

MONTGOMERY PARK – Tiffany Barbuzano spills all the details of her successes.

Tiffany Barbuzano knew she wanted to act – probably before she even knew what the craft was all about.

The talented actress divulged the secret of her success. “I remember I used to make all my friends sit and watch me perform all day when I was younger and my mom and dad always knew I wanted to act; they have been incredibly supportive of my dreams,” she said. This was the first thing Barbuzano said; from it one reads the passion for acting that was harvested from a very young age and the importance of support one receives from family.

During her teenage years, Barbuzano explained that she had to learn to overcome the judgement of her peers when it came to her choice of wanting to enrol in an art school and, more so, the choice to study acting. “You need to look at getting a real job – my peers would say and thankfully my parents would push me to follow my heart’s desires,” said Barbuzano.

The Montgomery Park resident went on to study drama at Wits University. Two actors she celebrates for being her inspiration are Julie Andrews and Judy Dench. “They do not take themselves too seriously and show that there is life outside of acting” she explained.

You should know her from her roles in television shows such as, 4Play: Sex Tips for Girls, Welcome to Hawaii, Lazy Susan, Isidingo and her current role on Sober Companion that airs on SABC3, which she head wrote. There she portrays a doctor who is actively addicted to cocaine and pethidine. “We did the show so that it was a dark comedy, which makes the audience probably want to laugh at scenes they possibly feel they shouldn’t laugh at,” she mused.

She added that her sons, five-year-old Jamie and 20-month-old Jessie, both star in the drama series alongside her. Barbuzano now looks to a future where she will act in full-feature film roles. “I want to do more local stuff; local stuff that can relate to people not only in South Africa,” she concluded.
