Northcliff without water

BERGBRON – The substation that was on fire on 12 July caused an unplanned water interruption in surrounding areas.

Joburg Water confirmed that the fire that erupted at the substation in Bergbron on 12 July, caused an water outage at the Waterval Pump station, leaving parts of Northcliff, Bergbron, Fairland and Quellerina without water.

Joburg Water marketing and communications spokesperson Tidimalo Chuene said that Joburg Water has a limited number of generators that are already in use in areas that are affected by planned electricity outages for maintenance work.

“We are trying to get a generator from a private person or company to provide for the affected areas. At this stage it is unclear when the water supply will be back, as soon as we have generators we will know when the pump station will be running,” said Chuene.

Water tanks are being replaced at the following addresses:

• Corner of Rockcliff and Columbine streets at Spar, Northcliff

• Corner Nuweveld and Mattappo avenues, Quellerina

• Corner Bergbron Drive and Gordon Road, Bergbron
