Empowering women one pedicure at a time

MELVILLE – Melville Wellness Centre promotes beauty far beyond a standard facial, but through community upliftment as well.

Melville Wellness Centre and Day Spa  celebrates the success of the women who they have helped empower.

The centre has been training and empowering underprivileged women who do not have the means to study beauty, for the past 12 years. Through this service they have been able to help over 35 women in the Melville area. This training runs for about two years.

“Our heart’s passion is to be the change that we wish to see in our area and our country, this is what drives us,” said co-owner of the centre, Lorna Greyling.

She added that they try their utmost to make a difference in Melville through their day spa. “Two of our powerful women who have completed this specific programme with us, won awards at an awards ceremony recently.

Pauline Nyhangare won their therapist of the year award, and Mpho Mogorosi won their manager of the year award. “Pauline started working with us as a cleaner, and has since worked her way up to the top,” said Greyling. “She is now one of the best and most qualified beauticians in Joburg.”

Greyling said that Mogorosi is known for her fantastic personality to make clients laugh and feel completely welcome at our spa. She always ensures the spa is running smoothly and all the clients have been attended to properly.

“We always try and empower everyone who come to work at our spa, with either extra training, emotional wellness or managerial and business managements skills,” said Greyling.
