Hijack victim in stable condition

AUCKLAND PARK – Hijacked car recovered in Soweto.

A hijacking took place in Auckland Park at the corner of Auckland Avenue and Finchley Road on 29 June at about 8pm.

This happened when the driver of the vehicle and his girlfriend stopped in front of the gate to their house. The driver’s girlfriend got out of the car to open the gate when the driver was approached by two male suspects.

The girlfriend was in the yard when the driver was pointed at with firearms by both the suspects who then ordered him to get out of the vehicle. When he got out of the car, one of the suspects shot him in the right arm.

Brixton Police spokesperson Jeannette Backhoff said, “The suspects drove away with the vehicle, which was later found abandoned in Nancefield Hostel in Soweto later that night.”

The victim was taken to Helen Joseph Hospital where he was admitted. Backhoff said that no arrests have been made yet and the case is still under investigation.
