Stop gate motor theft

JOBURG – Installing alarms on gates and gate motors can better protect you, the homeowner.

Residents should install alarms on their gates and have them linked to their alarm systems. So says Beagle Watch SA managing director Dave Casey, in response to a trend of criminals targeting gates in Joburg suburbs.

In order to prevent the derailing of gates and theft of gate motors, Casey says that gate motors can also be alarmed and linked to the alarm system. The alarmed gates allows access into and out of a property for a pre-determined amount of time. Thereafter it will send a signal to the security company saying the gate alarm has been activated.

According to Casey, an activated alarm from a gate or gate motor will alert the security company before the intruder can gain access to the house. In this way, there is less danger to the homeowner.

“Doing this will allow us to get there in time to stop the criminals from attempting to enter your home and we will have a far better chance of apprehending the culprits,” said Casey. “The most important part of home security today is keeping criminals from gaining access to your home and your family, alarming your gates plays a huge part in putting a stop to this.”
