ROODEPOORT – Marthinus Pelser will appear in court again in connection with his baby son's death

The father of the six-month-old baby who was found dead in his cot, will appear in the Roodepoort Magistrates’ Court for the second time today.

Marthinus Pelser (the father) was arrested by Honeydew Police on 15 June in connection with the death of his baby Deon.

Pelser went missing from his home in Allen’s Nek on 11 June after baby Deon was found dead with burn wounds and a fractured skull. He was finally apprehended by the police after a massive manhunt.

A barefoot Pelser briefly appeared in Roodepoort Magistrates’ Court on 17 June. None of his family members or friends were in court.

He will appear in the Roodepoort Magistrates’ Court again today (22 June) for a formal bail application.
