Dead baby’s post mortem done today

HONEYDEW - Still no sign of Pelser in spite of continuing police search.

While the manhunt for Marthinus Pelser is still continuing, the police confirmed that a post mortem was done today to establish the exact cause of his six-month-old baby boy’s death.

Honeydew Police spokesperson, Warrant Officer Karen Jacobs, confirmed this afternoon that the post-mortem was scheduled for today. She also said that the police were still following up all the leads that they are receiving from members of the public.

Pelser is wanted for questioning in connection with the death of baby Deon over the weekend. He was found dead in his cot on 11 June with burn wounds and a fractured skull.

Pelser is said to have left home on Saturday as soon as his wife arrived back from work. He has not been seen since. The police have appealed to the community to be on the lookout for Pelser and the copper-coloured Kia Picanto that he is said to have fled in. The registration number of the vehicle is TRX 167 GP.

Jacobs assured the public that police are tirelessly following up on the many leads that have come in to the police station.
