A fête to remember

ROOSEVELT PARK – Franklin D Roosevelt hosts a successful fundraiser.

Franklin D Roosevelt Primary School (FDR) hosted an exceptionally successful fundraiser and everyone enjoyed themselves tremendously

So said principal Hilton Westlake about the school fête which was held on 28 May.

He explained that the day was held to raise funds for the school. “We have been having a long standing problem with the field’s drainage so the money raised will go towards fixing the irrigation system,” said Westlake.

Westlake added that the event took several weeks to plan and he commended all who assisted in making the day a success. “The teamwork among the PTA members, other parents, and the staff was wonderful to see,” said Westlake.

For entertainment, there were performances from the Roosevelt High School Choir, karaoke and lip sync competitions. “There were also hip-hop competitions and good food served in a giant marquee,” said Westlake. There was a variety of inflatable rides, fun-filled games for the children, and over 30 external stalls selling their wares.

Westlake concluded that the school wants to make this an annual event.
