How do residents feel about the admissions policy for Gauteng public schools?
JOBURG – The Constitutional Court's decision gives the Gauteng Department of Education the authority to determine the minimum standards in admission policies for public schools.
The Constitutional Court recently approved new regulations that would let the Gauteng Department of Education have the final say in the admission of pupils in public schools in Gauteng.
The new regulations will open access to the feeder zone policy, which states that pupils are required to live in close proximity to schools. Gauteng Premier David Makhura welcomes the decision by the Constitutional Court and said that the decision will transform access to education in South Africa.
