Thandanani welcomes school supplies

NEWLANDS – Thandanani Pre-School receives great school supplies from Wesbank Fairland.

The Suid-Afrikaanse Vroue-Federasie (SAVF) received much-needed class supplies to the value of R5 000 from Wesbank Fairland.

SAVF is an organisation that provides social services that are made to improve the community’s quality of life. Within their vast projects, they also run a daycare centre called Thandanani Pre-school in Newlands. Thanks to Wesbank’s operational volunteers, the pre-school was handed class supplies that will aid in the daily teachings of all the young minds at the school.

Manager of SAVF Irma Visagie took the Wesbank volunteers on a tour of Thandanani, showing them the facilities that the school has worked hard to maintain. She explained the school is set at an affordable rate for parents in the community. “Schools in the area praise us for the quality of Grade 1 pupils the pre-school gives them, when they go they leave Thandanani with proper English skills and work ethic,” said Visagie.

She also added that the pre-school had a tough start and seeing how far it has come is very encouraging and it only gets better from here. “The donation made by Wesbank is huge for us because we need all the help we can get and we are very appreciative of all they have managed to do today,” said Visagie.

One of the Wesbank volunteers, Rookshaana Leetcher expressed that it is also great to give back and she was happy to be part of team that helped a very deserving pre-school.
