Mashaba: Small businesses will create job opportunities

FAIRLAND – Mashaba will initiate a small businesses advisory unit to give entrepreneurs opportunity while creating jobs.

Democratic Alliance Mayoral Candidate for the City of Joburg, Herman Mashaba, is adamant that if he becomes the mayor he will provide an environment that will create opportunities for all residents.

Mashaba was addressing residents at Berario Recreation Centre on the evening of 16 May.

He said the current state of the city was shocking and needed to be addressed. “Not so long ago I was at Windsor and the conditions are unacceptable,” he explained.

According to Mashaba, slums such as Yeoville, Hillbrow and the shocking dilapidated conditions in Windsor needed to be stopped. “This is the kind of cancer that is spreading overnight and needs to be stopped,” he said.

He told residents that he would implement strategies which would prevent residents from losing the values of their properties.

He blamed the current government for playing the race card to divert attention from serious problems in the City.

He further explained that cadre deployment had created a filthy City dominated by incompetent administrators.

“It has been 22 years since the ruling party is in power and all that Mandela have worked for had been reversed by the same party,” he explained referring to current challenges of power outages, potholes, and incompetence.

Mashaba said he will establish the small business advisory unit to stimulate economic growth in the city. “Small businesses are my biggest friend. I want you to make money, print money and employ our people,” he continued.

When asked about current employees in the City, Mashaba emphasised that he would do an audit, specifically on the senior positions, to ensure that every employee is competent.

“Tripartite alliances created the problems. Thousands of citizens were pushed out of government because they were not comrades,” he concluded.
