The altercation transpired after the residents apparently tried to rebuke the students about the noise emanating from their commune.

According to Frikkie Botha of the Westdene Johannesburg Crow Facebook Page, about 20 people were quarreling and swearing in the vicinity of the commune.

He said a resident who was assaulted and hit by a bottle during the scuffle laid charges at the Sophiatown Police Station.
