Northcliff Rotary Club donates R5 000
AUCKLAND PARK – Woodside Sanctuary will use the funds to cover the costs of residents winter vaccinations.
The Northcliff Rotary Club handed over a R5 000 cheque to Woodside Sanctuary, to cover the costs for residents’ winter vaccinations.
The handover took place on 5 May at Woodside Sanctuary in Auckland Park.
Northcliff Rotary Club president Francis Callard said the rotary raised funds through various fundraising projects, such as A Night at the Races. Other funds were donated by organisations and members contributions.
“We were approached by Woodside to provide flu vaccinations for their residents. We felt that we could respond to their request, in consideration of their need and our long ongoing relationship with them,” said Callard.
The handover was attended by Woodside Sanctuary members of staff, residents and Northcliff Rotary Club members.
Woodside Sanctuary general manager Kristen Williams said that this day symbolises health and wellness of residents. “Our residents are challenged with a number of health issues associated with their conditions. A number of them are immunocompromised. The flu vaccinations are a preventative measure to ensure their well-being. The vaccinations will take place from this week, over a three day period,” said Williams.
Williams added that they are so grateful to the Rotary for their efforts. They are always the first people to come to their aid. The Rotary have became friends and do so much for them.
Callard said that this year the Rotary plan to host A Night at the Races on 29 October, in order to raise funds for their charities.
“The event is an indoor event where races are televised and people get an opportunity to place their bets. The event takes place in a hall, has a theme and is open to the public. For more information people can visit our website,” said Callard.
