Cycling for school grounds

BRIXTON – Brixton Primary School principal, Happy Zungu, needs assistance to revamp school grounds.

Brian Mupaya is dedicated to changing the lives of more than 700 pupils who are studying at the Brixton Primary School, for the better.

This concerned community member will be cycling around the streets of Joburg, utilising the cycle lanes while raising funds to revamp the school grounds.

He said he will start cycling from Nelson Mandela Bridge through Melville to Newlands and then Brixton. Community members and residents who want to participate in this initiative can call Mupaya about the event’s details.

“I want everyone who is interested in assisting the school to join me on 2 May. This will help us to collectively assist the school to revamp the grounds and create an opportunity for pupils to participate in sports,” he said.

He indicated that it would also create an opportunity for cyclists, especially from Brixton, to cycle together on the new cycle lanes.

Mupaya said a proposed amount would be raised for every kilometre. “Donations will directly go into the school account,” he concluded.

School principal, Happy Zungu, insisted the open ground in the school could accommodate at least three to four fields of different sporting codes.

“This is a no fees school. We are struggling to raise funds to revamp the open space,” he said.

He further explained that they could accept any assistance that would help them revamp the school grounds.
