Taxi accident leaves 16 injured

A taxi collided with another vehicle and overturned on the corner of Empire Road and Jan Smuts Avenue in Parktown, leaving 16 people injured.

The accident occurred at 2.30pm on 21 April.

According to Netcare 911 media liaison officer Athlenda Mathe, reports from the scene were that all the injured sustained minor to moderate injuries.

“The exact detail to the cause of the accident will remain a subject for police investigation and comment,” Mathe said. “Netcare 911 paramedics worked alongside other services on scene to stabilise the injured. All the injured have been transported to a nearby hospital for further medical care.”
