Sapoa celebrates its 50th anniversary

PARKTOWN – JPC and Sapoa host a media breakfast meeting to discuss their partnership.

The Joburg Property Company (JPC) and the South African Property Owners Association (SOPOA) hosted a breakfast meeting, to discuss Sapoa’s 50th Anniversary Convention and Property Exhibition.

The exhibition will take place from 21 – 23 June.

The meeting took place at the Emoyeni Estate in Parktown on 12 April and was attended by guests who were addressed by JPC’s CEO, Helen Botes and Sapoa’s CEO Neil Gopal.

Botes welcomed everyone in attendance and said that this year she would discuss how the council utilises land for economic development and social development, in order to reach their transformation objectives.

“The City of Joburg owns approximately 30 000 plots with a market value of over R35 billion. We understand that land remains the catalyst to promote economic growth and would like to understand what we, as a municipality, can do in partnership with certain sectors. These include the public, private sector, non-government organisations, religious and social groups in order to achieve economic, social, financial and transformation objects,” explained Botes.

She added that she has also worked with developers to bring many projects to the residents in areas such as Newtown Junction, Fairland Office Park, 27Boxes in Melville, Pimville, Jabulani and World Wear Shopping Centre.

Gopal said during his address that it is not only a milestone for the Sapoa to celebrate 50 years in the industry, but it is also the first time to have a public sector entity partnering with them at this level.

“We are confident that our convention offers unrivaled opportunities to engage with industry leaders and other networking opportunities to meet your high expectations. I cannot emphasise anymore that our partnership with JPC is vital to the success of our industry, support which is most valued and appreciated,” concluded Gopal.
