Police confirm attempted robbery

CLAREMONT–Attempted robbery at a tuckshop is still being investigated by police.

Gauteng Provincial Police spokesperson Kay Makhubela confirmed that two tuckshop workers, were shot during an attempted robbery on 11 April.

“Nothing was stolen at the scene of the crime and no suspects have been arrested at this point. The attempted robbery is still under investigation,” said Makhubela.

ER24 spokesperson Chitra Bodasing said that ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene and discovered two people lying near the door of the shop.

“Upon assessment, it was found that the men, understood to be in their twenties, sustained moderate to serious injuries. They were treated and transported to the Helen Joseph Hospital for further medical care. The exact circumstances surrounding the incident is unknown. Authorities were on the scene for further in investigations,” said Bodasing.
