Beauty with a purpose

DELTA PARK – Nature Conservation beauty pageant shows that one can be beautiful and still care for nature and conserving it.

A pupil from Delta Park School, Amanda van der Westhuizen, made her school proud when she was recently chosen as the Petite Miss Nature Conservation South Africa.

The pageant is in its second year running and educates finalists in nature conservation. The finalists went to the Community Lead Animal Welfare (CLAW) in Roodepoort. They also visited Greenbeings at Norscot Nature Reserve and followed a programme on nature conservation.

Van der Westhuizen took part in the 7 to 12 age category and has many plans for nature conservation at her school. Van der Westhuizen is planning to raise funds to purchase a JoJo water tank which can be used at the school to water plants. Anet Brown from Delta Park School said that Van der Westhuizen accompanied her on outreaches to the community.

Her passion is animal welfare and working in the community with a holistic approach to conserve nature for future generations.
