Sprayathon fun day at Opti-Baby nursery school

NORTHCLIFF– Opti-Baby nursery school hosts a sprayathon in order to raise funds for the Cancer Association of South Africa

Opti-Baby nursery school in Northcliff hosted their annual Cancer Association of South Africa sprayathon.

The event was attended by pupils, parents and teachers who all participated on 1 April. Opti-Baby nursery school Northcliff owner and manager Marita Louw said that babies as young as three-months old participated, by adding their donations in CANSA envelopes in a donation box.

“All the children’s hair at the centre was sprayed with colourful spray to show their support for cancer victims in South Africa. Parents opened their hearts in aid of CANSA by donating money to the school. Opti-Baby nursery school was able to donate R5 500 to CANSA,” explained Louw.

CANSA volunteer Ester Pretorius said that they delivered spray to the school, then people who the children were familiar with, sprayed their hair.

“We discovered from past experiences that the children feel more comfortable being sprayed by someone they know. The response from the parents, the school and pupils was overwhelming. All the money donated will go towards the CANSA foundation, for their research efforts,” said Pretorius.
