Saints and Northcliff finish neck and neck in netball

LYME PARK – Exciting, jam-packed action ensues during the Northcliff versus St Stithians netball match at the St Stithians College Easter Sports Festival.

A tight game was seen between the St Stithians Girls College and the Northcliff High School girl’s 1st netball team at the St Stithians College Easter Sports Festival.

The incredibly tight game on 26 March ended in a draw, with the points 17 – 17. St Stithians started off strong with quick attacking moves and even better defence. At the end of the first quarter of the game, St Stithians were in the lead after impressive scoring by their goal shooter, Phillipa Hobbs, leaving Northclff to make up substantial ground.

As it always is in a heated game of netball, Northcliff came back with renewed energy. Both teams were fighting hard to maintain a strong goal lead by half time.

Ultimately, the most exciting play came at the end of the game with St Stithians closing the small goal difference. The final minutes saw extremely fast play with quick passes and impressive defence from

Northcliff’s wing defence, Francesca Monzeguotwini Ndhlovu.

Doreen Beduing of Northcliff said, “It was a truly great game of netball and it was even more impressive that Northcliff fought back hard, resulting in a draw.”

Gizelle Boom, coach of the St Stithians netball team, commented, “It was a tough game and not one of our best. I think the girls were a bit rattled as it was the first game of the day and I’m positive that they will

come back with force.”
