Two robbers nabbed by the police and ADT security

BLAIRGOWRIE – Two elderly victims tied up in their home and robbed.

Two suspects who held up and robbed an elderly couple in Condon Road earlier today, were taken into custody after a police chase through the suburb.

Captain Alex Vermaak of Linden Police confirmed that the suspects were caught red-handed after they had broken into yet another house in the area.

He explained that the two elderly victims, aged 79 and 73, were confronted by two armed suspects with a silver firearm on 23 March. They forced the couple into their house and tied them up with ties while they searched the house.

The suspects stole two firearms from the safe as well as jewellery and an undisclosed amount of money from the house.

ADT responded when the alarm went off. When they got to the house, they saw the two suspects in the street. The suspects fled and the ADT officers started chasing them.

Sergeant Quinton Jewatschewits from the Linden Police caught up with the fleeing suspects.

The suspects were eventually cornered at a house where they broke in. Their luck ran out and they were finally arrested. The firearms were recovered and they were taken into custody.

“The two suspects will appear in the Randburg Magistrates Court on 29 March,” said Linden Police Captain Alex Vermaak.

Cpt Vermaak confirmed that the elderly couple was safe and unharmed.
