Silly Socks day for charity

NORTHCLIFF–Pupils participate in Silly Socks day in order to donate shoes to the Firlands Children's Home.

Pupils at Northcliff Nursery School participated in Silly Socks day at their nursery school. On this particular day pupils wear eccentric socks and donate shoes to a charity.

Northcliff Nursery School principal Renate Alberts said she collected 95 pairs of shoes from pupils that are donated by their parents, on 18 March.

“Silly socks day gives us an opportunity to donate shoes to a charity of our choice. We support the Firlands Children’s Home and the Princess Alice Adoption Home. This year the shoes are going to the Firlands Children’s Home,” said Alberts.

Alberts described how pupils and their parents formed a heart shape from all the shoes that will be donated.

“It was a good learning experience for the pupils to learn the different colours and types of shoes. Their parents also participated in creating the heart shape out of shoes,” explained Alberts.

She added that she feels that Firlands Children’s Home was a great choice as a charity because they are accessible to them. In terms of Princess Alice Adoption Home it is good for children to bless other children.

Northcliff Nursery School pupil Jason Fuge is passionate about giving back. “You have to help people and do something nice for them like giving them shoes,” explained Fuge.

“We had an Easter Egg hunt this week where pupils made and wore bunny ears, in celebration of the Easter holidays,” concluded Alberts.
