Sparrow Combined School hosted Vuleka Sekolo sa Borokgo to a day of sports and chess. Pupils participated in soccer, netball and chess games.
Sparrow Combined School head of sport Liam Gallagher said the aim of the event, which was held on 15 March was to create a derby between the schools.
“This is a great way to build team unity and pride within schools. We had a sports day last year and we decided to formally introduce chess this year too. It also provides an opportunity for the school teams to prepare our netball and soccer teams for their upcoming tours. The netball team has also been entered into the netball league, which is a great opportunity,” explained Gallagher.
The scores are as follows:
Junior Soccer:
- Sparrow Combined School 0 – 3 Vuleka Sekolo sa Borogo
Senior Soccer:
- Sparrow Combined School 0 – 4 Vuleka Sekolo sa Borogo
Netball
- Sparrow Combined School (U15) 8– 10 Vuleka Sekolo sa Borogo
